It won't be long before
the drawings are done and we can share with you what the exhibits will
look like, feel like, and most importantly teach our children. We
are very excited about this process.
Knock Knock Children’s Museum will be a best in class children’s museum located on a hill in BREC’s City – Brooks Community Park facing Dalrymple Drive. The museum will be 30,000 square feet and feature 18 - 20 hands-on interactive exhibits for children from birth to age eight. Cambridge Seven & Associates, a national architectural firm from Boston, Massachusetts, with previous children’s museum experience, will join local firms to produce Design Development and Schematic Drawings.
While there will be a marked sense of fun to Knock Knock, the museum will be built on a foundation with a firm commitment to learning and families. Exhibit plans will be heavily integrated with early literacy learning activities which regional educators believe many children are lacking when they reach school age and we will work closely with the State Department of Education to align our exhibits with the early learning guidelines and grade level expectations.
Knock Knock’s Exhibits and Programs will:
- Deliver extraordinary learning experiences through child-directed play
- Inspire and promote young children’s intellectual curiosity
- Develop creativity and self-expression educational opportunities
- Emphasize early literacy development
- Connect Families and Community
